The Honourable Michael Kirby AC CMG, Fellow of the Institute and past President will talk about mediation with LGBTIQ+ people.
As we all know, Michael is always an entertaining and perceptive presenter. Michael promises that there will be some mirth and insights suitable to the Season of Goodwill.


About the presenter

The Hon Michael Kirby AC CMG
‘’Michael Kirby was a Justice of the High Court of Australia 1996-2009. Before that he was President of the NSW Court of Appeal and of the Court of Appeal of Solomon Islands. He also served as inaugural Chairman of the Australian Law Reform Commission (1975-1984). Since his retirement from judicial office he has undertaken many mandates for the United Nations. These have included as chairman of the UN Human Rights Council's commission of inquiry on human rights violations in North Korea (2013-14) and member of the High Level Panel of the UN Secretary General on Access to Essential Medicines (2016). He presently serves as co-chair of the International Bar Association's Human Rights Institute based in London.

Upon demitting judicial office Michael Kirby was elected President of the Institute Of Arbitrators and Mediators Australia (2009-2011). He was appointed a Fellow of IAMA. He is now a member of the Resolution Institute and a Fellow member of that Institute. He undertook the IAMA course on mediation and successfully conducts large mediations in Australia. He chairs large international arbitrations overseas and has been awarded recognition for his work in international arbitration.’’
