This is a free event for members!
Mini workshop part 1: Connecting with your clients
Take a moment to think about someone you have a great relationship with. Now think about how you efficiently and effectively communicate with that person compared to how you do so with a client, especially a new client. To be efficient and effective in communicating with your clients you need to have a connection. Once we have a connection people will hear what we have to say and understand us better. But how do you do this without having time to build a strong relationship?
In the first part of this session Trevor will demonstrate easy-to-learn ways this can be achieved and why it works so well.
Mini workshop part 2: Detecting deception
When dealing with clients or participants in mediation we rely heavily on what they tell us. But what if all they are saying is not the truth or more importantly not the whole story? Then our decisions will be negatively impacted.
Scientific Content Analysis (SCAN) is the science of detecting deception in the written and spoken word. Trevor has had extensive training in SCAN and has used it in many various circumstances. He will share with you how to use it in dispute resolution and what to do when deception is indicated.
5.30 - 7.00pm: Meet your community of dispute resolvers
Here's an opportunity to connect with other dispute resolvers in your area, we'll provide the 'informality'! From 6.00 - 7.00pm we'll have an open floor discussion about the current dispute resolution context for you, your thoughts, concerns and questions. We've also asked some of our long standing Resolution Institute Professional members and Fellows to come and share their thoughts as part of this. Trevor Slater, our new GM NZ, will host this event.
CPD available: 2.5 hours for full event
