Understanding cognitive impairment and associated implications in dispute resolution

with Emma Fromings

An opportunity to better understand dementia, this workshop will explain the normal aging changes to the brain; when to be concerned about changes to memory and thinking and what to do about this.

Participants will hear about, discuss and practise skills to support a person with cognitive impairment to express themselves and to recognise when to be concerned about capacity and or their credibility.

Emma Fromings is a dementia advisor and educator, with over 30 years nursing experience in a variety of settings all related to dementia. She is currently working for Dementia Wellington with people newly diagnosed, their families as well as the general public.

Emma is also involved in enabling health professionals and the wider community to better understand and support people affected by dementia to live well.
