About the speakers

 

Jon Everest

Jon is an experienced conflict resolution specialist based in Warkworth, New Zealand. He is an accredited mediator, facilitator, conflict coach, trainer and professional supervisor who specialises in restorative approaches. He provided an independent conflict resolution service to Victoria University of Wellington from 2003 to 2021 as well as a mediator to many other organisations. He has facilitated restorative processes in criminal, workplace, education and family matters and, since 2008, he has been a lead trainer for the New Zealand Ministry of Justice restorative justice facilitator training programme. He is an advanced accredited restorative justice facilitator, endorsed to facilitate both family violence and sexual violence matters. Jon is a Fellow of the Resolution Institute, an Advanced Accredited Mediator, and an Accredited Member of the International Mediation Institute (IMI). He formerly served as an Inspector in the Royal Hong Kong Police, and has been a senior manager in both the public and private sectors.


Sarah Ramsay, Vice-Chair

Sarah lives in Te Whanganui a Tara (Wellington) in Aotearoa New Zealand. She has been working in conciliation and statutory complaint resolution for over 13 years. She leads a complaint resolution team for Te Tari o te Kaitiaki Mana Tangata (the Office of the Ombudsman), resolving complaints about central and government agencies in Aotearoa. In 2014 she received the LEADR practitioner award for achievement by an emerging mediator. Sarah established and co-managed a community mediation practice in Te Whanganui a Tara (Wellington) for a number of years. She is a trainer, coach, and assessor for Resolution Institute. Outside of her mediation work she is the co-founder of an electric vehicle start-up, a salsa dancer, and proud fur-Mum of two adorable RSPCA cats.


Amber Williams, CEO

Amber works with the board in setting and delivering the strategic direction of Resolution Institute to ensure the future success of the organisation, and to work in the interests of members to grow services and expand the profile of Resolution Institute and dispute resolution within the community.
