Thank you, Ben Thomas, from all of us at Resolution Institute

We regret to announce that Prof. Ben Thomas has chosen to step down from the Board of Resolution Institute due to health reasons.

Ben was first elected to the Board in 2017 and re-elected in 2019, serving on a number of committees including the governance committee, and acknowledgement and awards committee, before resigning in August this year. We thank him for generously sharing his time and expertise, and for his unstinting dedication and commitment to the betterment of Resolution Institute.

Commenting on his decision to step down, he says, “It has been a privilege to serve Resolution Institute as a director. I thank the membership for reposing their faith in me for a second term and apologise that due to health reasons, I cannot discharge my fiduciary duties to the required level over the coming months. I have the highest regard for the chair, vice-chair, and my colleagues on the Board and thank them for their support. I believe that Resolution Institute is headed for some of its best years, bolstered by the implementation of the Strategic Plan, and ably led by the CEO, who has brought fresh energy to the role, and is moving the organisation forward in ways few would have imagined a year ago.”

Russell Thirgood, Chair, Resolution Institute, said, “On behalf of the Board, I thank Ben for his years of service to Resolution Institute, including being part of two boards, several board committees and former chair of the governance committee. Ben has always been an independent thinker, focused on best practice governance and has been a great supporter of the Strategic Plan that our organisation has recently embarked upon. I know that it was a very difficult decision that Ben has made to leave the board. I’m comforted in knowing that he does not leave the broader Resolution Institute family and we wish him the very best.”
