Resolution Institute member to review security of payments legislation

Resolution Institute member and experienced adjudicator John Murray AM has been appointed by the Turnbull Government to conduct a review of security of payments laws in the building and construction industry >>

The wide-ranging review will look at the state-of-play in each jurisdiction and Mr Murray will be consulting with approximately 60 major stakeholder groups. This will include Resolution Institute adjudicators across Australia. The review is tasked to deliver a final report by the end of this year and to include a range of recommendations to be considered by Government.

Mr Murray will of course not be accepting adjudications during the period of the review and is stepping down from roles he has in the major stakeholder organisations.

John is the former National CEO of Master Builder Australia and has extensive experience within the building and construction industry. He is a director of Cbus and Cbus Property and the former Chair of the Building Professionals Board (NSW) and Director of Standards Australia and SAI Global. He is also an experienced adjudicator having made more than 350 determinations in relation to disputed payment claims in Victoria, NSW, Queensland South Australia and the ACT.

In 2004 John was made a member of the Order of Australia for services to the building industry, particularly through Master Builders Association and the introduction of key industry initiatives and reforms.
