New General Manager appointed in New Zealand
I am really pleased to announce that we have appointed long-standing Resolution Institute member, Trevor Slater to the role of General Manager, New Zealand.
We had more than fifty applicants for the job, which I think says a lot about the reputation of Resolution Institute and how the work of peace-making that we do is very much valued. Of the small group who we interviewed, Trevor stood out for the priority he places on Resolution Institute being there for members, his business management skills, the importance he places on supporting and developing staff and the emphasis he gives to building relationships with those both inside and outside of the organisation. Importantly also, Trevor has a strong commitment to extending our bi-cultural approach particularly in relation to restorative justice and family dispute resolution. His dispute resolution experience and skills are an added bonus, which we think will mean that Trevor will hit the ground running.
Trevor is currently the Client Director of the Financial Dispute Resolution Service at Fairway in Wellington. His many roles have included work with the Financial Industry Complaints Service in Australia and with a range of membership organisations. And a bit unexpectedly we have learnt that Trevor is also a qualified Carpenter and Joiner. You never know when skills with a hammer and nail will come in handy!
On being told that he had the role Trevor said, “That’s made my day! I can’t wait to start. I have for a long time thought that Resolution Institute is a great organisation with great members who do fabulous and important work.”
Catherine Cooper finishes up today and starts in her new role on the same day that Trevor commences work with Resolution Institute: 24 June 2019.
I know that you will join me once again in wishing Catherine well in her new role and in welcoming Trevor to lead the Resolution Institute staff team in New Zealand.
