Mediation training scholarships

Each year Resolution Institute offers the chance for those with a passion for DR to apply for our NZ mediation scholarships. We're proud to announce our recipients for 2018, Michael Ligaliga and Jamie-Lee Tuuta (Ngai Tahu, Ngati Mutunga o Wharekauri and Ngati Toa Rangatira).  Jamie-Lee is a solicitor for Community Law Canterbury, heading Te Ropu Ture Maori, the Maori Legal Team, and working predominantly in family, employment and Maori land law.  Michael has recently submitted a PhD thesis through the National Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Otago, examining whether there are cultural aspects within Samoan society that contribute to violence in Samoa.

Both Jamie-Lee and Michael plan to complete our 5-day mediation training in Auckland in July, with the aim of gaining mediation accreditation and promoting dispute resolution in their communities.  We'd like to offer our congratulations to Jamie-Lee and Michael, and to acknowledge the superb work that all of our shortlisted applicants do - your efforts to spread the word about the importance of resolving disputes doesn't go unnoticed.
