MEDIA RELEASE: Former Resolution Institute CEO recognised with Honorary Life Membership
Resolution Institute is pleased to announce that the 2021 Honorary Life Membership Award, its highest honour, has gone to former CEO, Fiona Hollier. This award recognises Ms. Hollier’s substantial contribution to dispute resolution not only during her career but into the future.
Ms. Hollier oversaw the successful merger of LEADR (in Australia) and LEADR New Zealand in 2014 to establish and grow an internationally focused trans-Tasman dispute resolution entity. In 2015, again under Ms Hollier's helm, the two most significant organisations in the Australia-New Zealand dispute resolution landscape, LEADR and IAMA, merged to form what is now the largest dispute resolution professional membership organisation across Australia and New Zealand.
"This award is a great honour and I am truly incredibly grateful to the Board for this acknowledgement and recognition. Resolution Institute has come a long way since we began the transition from two or three smaller organisations to create what is now one strong unified member-based not-for-profit, that has a powerful voice across two countries and in the region," said Ms. Hollier.
Ms. Hollier has over 30 years' experience in organisational and interpersonal communications, as a facilitator, workplace educator, mediator and restorative engagement practitioner. As a facilitator, she is highly skilled in creating environments in which participants are able to reflect, analyse and contribute in meaningful and honest ways.
She leads participants to probe beneath the surface of their reflex reactions, to uncover the mental models from which they are operating. She uses her interpersonal competencies and conflict resolution skills to negotiate agreements between different stakeholder and factional groups, to resolve issues on which future cooperation is required.
She has been a member of Mediators Beyond Borders <http://www.mbb.org/> and was a delegate to the UNFCCC climate change conference, in Copenhagen December 2009. Ms Hollier has extensive expertise in teaching and practising conflict resolution, negotiation, grievance management, leadership, customer service, effective communications, and team participation for a broad variety of organisations.
"I feel very fortunate to have had such a diverse career. I've really enjoyed helping people solve problems without the need for a courtroom. It's outside the courts where dispute resolution can be used to arrive at creative and peaceful solutions to complex problems and that is extremely rewarding," she said.
"Fiona is an outstanding recipient of this award and it is with great pleasure that we recognise her career and incredible contribution to dispute resolution over many years. I'm sure that she has much more to offer in the years to come," said Resolution Institute CEO, Ms. Amber Williams.
