In each of the sessions, Laurence picks up on six themes presented at a conference 10 years ago and discusses the relevance, or otherwise, of each theme for contemporary dispute resolution. Laurence relates his topic of discussion to ADR developments in Australia, New Zealand and internationally, and also suggests themes for the future development of Australasian dispute resolution.

Professor Laurence Boulle​​
At present, Laurence Boulle is Professor of Law at the Thomas More Law School, ACU, Sydney. He is also Adjunct Professor at both Bond University, QLD, and University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Prior to this, Laurence was Issy Wolfson Professor of Law, and Director of the Mandela Institute at the University of the Witwatersrand, and whilst he was Professor of Law at Bond University, Laurence founded the Dispute Resolution Centre.

Over the past two decades, Laurence has taught ADR and mediation at institutions in Asia, the Pacific, Australasia, Africa and Europe, and published key ADR texts in Canada, the UK, Singapore, the US, New Zealand and Australia. He has also practiced extensively as a mediator, dispute management consultant, and conflict coach, having also acted as advisor to governments and private industry on the topics of his expertise. In addition to this, Laurence also researches and teaches on trade and investment, and has published a key text in this area entitled, The Law of Globalisation (Kluwer Law, The Netherlands).

Laurence is former chair of the National ADR Advisory Council (NADRAC) in Australia, and is currently a part-time member of the Native Title Tribunal. He is a long-serving member of the Law Council of Australia ADR committee, and the 2014-15 LEADR Fellow. Having performed a similar role in South Africa, Laurence is also current Chair of the Mediator Standards Board in Australia
