This is the last webinar in a series of four monthly webinars aimed at equipping public servants with practical tools for effective dispute resolution.
Dispute resolution practitioners in the public service often communicate with some of the most vulnerable groups in our society. In this webinar we will discuss the sources of power in conflict and how this can create an imbalance.
The webinar will also discuss why the perception of fairness is an important element in ensuring negotiated outcomes. As an independent and impartial party, public servants can take various steps to ensure that any power imbalances are addressed to ensure that all parties can participate equally in any dispute resolution processes.

About the speaker
Shiv is an Assistant Information Commissioner with the Queensland Information Commissioner and Panel Mediator, Coach and Assessor with the South Queensland Dispute Resolution Branch.
Shiv works with the University of Newcastle and the University of Queensland in training and facilitation. She has held senior positions in Queensland and Australian government justice agencies such as the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, Queensland Office of the Information Commissioner, and Queensland Department of Justice and Attorney General.
Shiv conducts mediations and delivers training in negotiation and dispute resolution through her practice, Integrative Conversations and as the Australian training lead for the High Conflict Institute.

The link to the recording of this webinar will remain active for at least 3 months from the date the webinar was run.
