About the speaker
Dr Hanna Jaireth
Dr Hanna Jaireth NMAS currently administers the Farm Debt Mediation Act 1994 (NSW) for the NSW Rural Assistance Authority. She worked on a review and amendment of the Act in 2017-18. Legislation with similar features (and several differences) is expected to commence in New Zealand in 2020.
Hanna recognises the relief that confidential, dignified, facilitated mediations can bring for parties in financial distress and relationship conflict. She mediates franchising, debt recovery, strata, workplace and other disputes.
Hanna has held national accreditation as a mediator since 2014.
In the 1990s Hanna researched and contributed to reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the broader community. Hanna has served on the boards of several non-government environmental law organisations and law journals for many years.
