In October 2020 there were a series of changes made to the NSW Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act. These changes include:
The Act applying to work carried out for owner occupied homes from 1 March 2021.
Adjudicators now requiring certain qualifications and having to carry out ongoing monitored training.
Authorised Nominating Authorities having to comply with a Code of Practice.
Revised Trust Account requirements.
The session will be of interest to adjudicators, authorised nominating authorities, claims preparers, contract administrators and contractors.
It is highly recommended that anyone involved with the residential construction industry (contractors, legal professionals and homeowners contemplating construction work) attend this presentation.

About the presenters
Robert is an electrical engineer with over 40 years’ experience in the Australian and New Zealand construction industry.
Robert is an active adjudicator who sits on several panels, adjudicating in Queensland, New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia and the President of the Adjudication Forum.
Robert has wide-ranging experience with the various security of payment acts and provides advice to government and a variety of industry participants.
Daniel is a partner in Piper Alderman’s Projects & Construction group with over 15 years experience acting for builders, trade contractors, developers and owners in a diverse range of contentious matters relating to construction, infrastructure and commercial and residential property the subject of litigation, adjudication under security of payment legislation, arbitration, expert determination and mediations.
Daniel also has an active front end practice, having advised on and negotiated development, construction and consultancy agreements and tendering documents across a wide range of projects including large remediation projects, roadworks projects, industrial, commercial and residential developments, commercial fit-outs, shopping centre refurbishments, civil works, electrical and facade works.
Robert is the General Counsel for the Master Builders Association of NSW, and before that was a partner in private practice specialising in building and construction litigation. Robert sits on various Government working groups and advisory panels in relation to prospective building and construction legislation.
