The President and Executive of the Adjudication Forum Incorporated invites adjudicators and legal practitioners and claims consultants to this interesting seminar.
Drawing on their extensive experience with the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act’s evolution, through its various amendments and immense body of case law, our presenters will provide rare insights into some of the ethical issues and challenges faced by adjudicators.
The presenters have all been involved with the Act for over 20 years and they will draw on some of their own real-life experiences as advisers, advocates, educators, and adjudicators.
About the presenters
Max is a chartered professional engineer. He was, for many years, General Manager, Procurement Systems in the NSW Department of Commerce (formerly Public Works and Services, now Office of Finance & Services). His role included contract development, contract administration and dispute resolution. He is now a consultant and Adjudicate Today’s Chief Adjudicator in NSW. In that role he undertakes training and mentoring of adjudicators.
Tim has specialised in alternative dispute resolution (for more years than he is prepared to admit) as an adjudicator, arbitrator, mediator, conciliator, expert determiner, educator and dispute board member. He is an adjudicator in most Australian jurisdictions. He has trained adjudicators under the Security of Payment legislation in most jurisdictions and is often used as a sounding board by dispute resolvers when faced with complex procedural issues.
Robert is a partner in the Projects and Construction Practice of Piper Alderman in Sydney. He chairs the Resolution Institute’s NSW Determinative Committee and sits on the MBA NSW’s Legal and Contracts Committee. Robert has an active security of payment support practice and has maintained accreditation as an adjudicator with the Resolution Institute since 2003. He has written, challenged and defended determinations and is frequently involved in keeping the stakeholders up to date.
Resolution Institute has partnered with the Adjudication Forum for this special event. This event is co-sponsored by Adjudicate Today, the Contract Administration Group and Piper Alderman and is designed to provide Adjudicators with 1 CPD point on the topic of ‘Ethics’ related to the Building Industry Fairness (Security of Payment Act) (Qld) and the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act (NSW).
