The Sport Integrity Commission Te Kahu Raunui is responsible for leading and promoting integrity across all levels of sport and recreation. We set standards, support sector capability, investigate serious integrity breaches, and work alongside participants and organisations to prevent harm. Our work is grounded in te Tiriti o Waitangi and public service values.

The Resolution team plays a pivotal role in facilitating the resolution of complaints through early facilitation, including mediation and restorative techniques, to uphold integrity in sport and recreation.

This part-time role reports to the Resolution Manager as part of the Resolution Team, which supports the Commission's efforts to promote integrity, safety, and fairness in sport and recreation. The team plays a key role in managing the triage and early facilitation of complaints and disputes to support these objectives.

As part of a small team of Resolution Practitioners, your primary responsibility will be to manage the triage and early facilitation of complaints and disputes within the sport and recreation sector. You will act promptly, fairly and with sensitivity, ensuring that all parties involved are supported throughout the process.

Key Points

  • Receive and assess complaints, ensuring appropriate triage and case categorisation based on the urgency and complexity of each matter.
  • Facilitate the early resolution of complaints through mediation, negotiation, and alternative dispute resolution methods, including restorative justice techniques.
  • Apply tikanga-based dispute resolution practices, ensuring culturally competent and sensitive approaches, particularly when working with Māori and Pacific peoples.
  • Maintain accurate case management records, ensuring compliance with confidentiality and privacy standards throughout the process.
  • Provide guidance and support to all parties involved, ensuring they are supported and informed during the resolution process.
  • Collaborate as a team player, working together to ensure a seamless and effective resolution process for all parties involved.
  • Follow a process-driven approach, ensuring consistency and quality in case management and dispute resolution practices.

Qualifications


  • Certification or accreditation in mediation, or an equivalent qualification, with practical experience in applying mediation techniques.
  • Training or qualifications in tikanga-based dispute resolution (or other culturally responsive approaches), with a focus on Māori and Pacific peoples’ communities, would be highly advantageous.
  • FDR-approved child inclusion qualification (or equivalent experience working with children), ensuring children’s voices and best interests are heard during the dispute resolution process, would be highly valued.
  • Formal qualifications in law, dispute resolution, or a related field, demonstrating an understanding of relevant legislative frameworks and regulatory environments.
  • Proven experience in triaging and early facilitation of complaints, including mediation, ideally within a government or regulatory environment.
  • Experience with restorative justice and the application of culturally appropriate techniques is highly valued.
  • Experience working with Māori and Pacific peoples’ communities, applying tikanga-based approaches to dispute resolution. Alternatively, experience in child inclusion practices within dispute resolution processes would be highly advantageous.
  • Proven experience in case management, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting practices that comply with relevant standards and regulations.
